Lead Credit Officer

The successful candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of commercial customers of a varied business nature forming part of the Bank’s portfolio of commercial credit facilities, as well as to assist in the day-to-day administration and controlling of related activities.

The main responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

Evaluation of financing proposals which includes a comprehensive risk assessment and analyses of financial information;
Preparation of credit applications and recommending proposals for sanctioning in line with delegated authority and in terms of the Bank’s procedures and regulations;
Establishing and maintaining a healthy and fruitful relationship with the Bank’s commercial customers;
Monitoring, controlling and reviewing existing credit facilities on an ongoing basis and to propose and recommend suitable and relevant action;
Compilation of data required for statutory and other reporting purposes;
Leading, mentoring and guiding of support staff.

The applicants as a minimum shall:

Have a minimum of five years’ experience in Commercial lending;
Be able to demonstrate a proven track record in:
a. the compilation, preparation and interpretation of statutory reporting and regulatory returns;
b. managing (monitor, control, review and service) a portfolio of commercial customers, being fully responsible for credit and financial crime risks of the respective accounts
Have proven competence in analysing financial statements;
Be able to demonstrate excellent analytical skills;
Be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Be self-motivated and work on own initiative and within a team;
Have the ability to prioritise and work under pressure without compromising the quality of deliverables;
Hold a professional qualification in relevant areas such as banking and finance.
